Situated at the heart of the Palace and east-facing, the King’s Bedchamber played host to three very important moments in life at Court: the King’s getting-up ceremony, dinner at midday, and the going-to-bed ceremony. Courtiers had to obey very strict etiquette in order to enter this room in the presence of the king. But when the king was not occupying it, it was open to all.
