Cefalù is a small city located on the northern coast of Sicily. It was probably founded in the 5th century.
His name come from Cephaloedium, latin adaptation of the Greek Kephaloídion; in AD 858 under Arab rule was known as Gafludi and became part of Emirate of Sicily.
It was conquered by the Normans in the 12th century AD and it reached its height with Ruggero II.
